Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Launches Six UGC-Recognised Online Degree Programs
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, one of India’s premier multi-disciplinary universities, today announced the launch of six new UGC-recognised online degree programs under its online learning initiative, Amrita AHEAD. The newly introduced programs include BBA, MBA, BCA, MCA, BCOM & MCOM alongside innovative offerings such as a six-week certificate course on the Mahabharata.
Designed in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, these programs offer flexibility with multiple entry and exit options, catering to the evolving needs of learners across India. The undergraduate degrees also feature an embedded semester with industry internships, ensuring practical, career-ready skills.
Vice-Chancellor P. Venkat Rangan said the online programmes would solve the problem of equity and accessibility to higher education. “The online degrees are equivalent to our on-campus degrees, offering the same academic and career opportunities to our online students as available to students studying at our physical campus.”
Dean of Post-Graduate Programmes Krishnashree Achuthan said, “A unique feature of Amrita Ahead degrees is semester-long internships even at the undergraduate level to make the learning of students relevant to the industry. They can also pursue dual degrees with some of the best international universities and benefit from international exchange and placement opportunities through our more than 200 global affiliations.”

The programs are fully online, from admission to completion, with no admission fees and course fees 35–60% lower than on-campus equivalents. The flexible structure makes them especially suitable for working professionals, with live classes held once a week during weekends and additional recorded sessions and peer discussion forums for continuous engagement.
The university has ensured that no age bar limits access to these opportunities, widening participation for learners of all backgrounds. Graduates of these programs will also receive career guidance and placement support to help them achieve professional growth.
