Shishir Joshipura SKF Interview
In this video, Shishir Joshipura, the Managing Director of SKF, shares insights into his personal and professional journey. He talks about his childhood in Jaipur, which fostered his ability to make friends easily and learn from diverse backgrounds. He pursued mechanical engineering at BITS Pilani due to his inclination towards mathematics. He spent 26 years at Thermax, a steam boiler manufacturing company, where he rose to global head of business and was involved in new initiatives like carbon credits. His experience at Thermax led him to focus on environmental issues and energy efficiency, realizing that "green makes sense" because it saves money, reduces waste, and builds brand reputation. He joined SKF in 2009, drawn by the resonance in value systems between Thermax and SKF. He describes his current role as country head for SKF in India, overseeing diverse operations. He explains that SKF primarily makes products that reduce friction and enable movement across various industries, highlighting SKF's unique "knowledge" from its global presence, technological capabilities across five platforms, and ability to offer holistic solutions. For youth, Joshipura emphasizes the importance of a strong value system, being open to change, learning from everyone, being humble, and recognizing the contributions of others to one's success.
