The communication and presentation skills honed through our soft skills classes are invaluable even today as I present my research and findings. The writing assignments and communications courses molded strong written skills – an important tool for any researcher. As I sit to pen down my thoughts, I am brimmed with emotions to recall that I was the student of the 1st batch of BBM 14 years ago. I am reminded of many things that have contributed into making of a well-rounded individual. AMRITA is the reason for who I am today. I consider myself more of a Generalist than domain specialist, and the platform to explore my innate qualities, to have the freedom to pose different questions, have healthy discussions on different ideologies, and even try to develop an unmanned VTOL was provided by AMRITA. The programs offered have always been industry relevant. Even as 1st batch, our program was unique from similar courses offered across India. Our University didn’t shy away from offering some advanced management topics viz., Business & Social Environment, Evolution of Indian Business, Workplace Relations & Emotions, (which is Organizational Behaviour & Psychology), Foreign Language & International Culture, IT for Managers, Indian Constitution, Business Law, and Advance Strategic Management with Cases, etc. While these courses were entirely new to us, the pedagogy was lucid. I strongly believe that the environment and people around us are the potential contributors to success and growth, and that is how AMRITA’s BBM program was instrumental to me. This is the place, where I broke my mold and learnt some valuable life lessons.
